Some Cards I’ve Finished Making Yesterday And Today

I’ve been playing around with some slightly different techniques over the weekend and the beginning of this week.  The sheets used are mostly CraftROBO cut designs or Print & Cut designs, but I’ve used techniques such as colouring acetate behind the “over the edge” cut on one card and stuck glitter in front of sticky-back plastic put behind the “over the edge” cut on another card.

On another I’ve made a shaker card using two copies of the same image so that the aperture matches up completely with the image behind.

  1. FLORAL 4 OVER THE EDGE CARD by Clive Couter (A lovely design cut out using my CraftROBO and then I simply attached a sheet of acetate behind and coloured in from the back using ProMarkers.  No need to be too careful as going a little over the line in the back won’t show behind the card front.)
  2. Double Chevron card by Sue Bryant (I cut the chevron card base out of yellow card and placed it in the landscape orientation for this card, though it could be used portrait style as well.)
Baby Borders CUTS by Luanne Collins (I used one of the baby borders from this CraftROBO Print & Cut sheet as part of the decoration on the Double Chevron card.  Print & cut sheets are great for days when dexterity issues mean that cutting out is more difficult but you still want to be a bit creative and can stick things down.)
  3. Sand, Sun & Surf Backing Paper Kit by Robyn Cockburn (This backing paper kit is full of lovely images.  For this card I simply printed one of the images out twice, cutting a frame from one of the printouts before sticking acetate behind it and attaching it to the front of the card, to line up, using 2mm deep double sided foam after putting blue seed beads inside to make a shaker element.)
  4. PARROT OVER THE EDGE CARD by Clive Couter (Once I’d cut the design out of good quality black card using my CraftROBO I stuck a piece of clear, sticky back plastic to the back of the image.  I then trimmed this around the front edge of the design.  I took various colours of ultra fine glitter and carefully spooned it onto the back of the sticky-back plastic through the holes, and I carefully rubbed the glitter well in before brushing the excess off.  I put a white insert in the card to give contrast behind the image.)
  5. FLOWERS 01 by Clive Couter (This is a CraftROBO Print & Cut sheet of lovely flowers that have so many uses when cardmaking or paper crafting.  I used my fingers to manipulate the cut out flowers a bit to give them some dimension, but they could be used flat on a page, perhaps each one by the side of the other as a border.  They could even be scrunched and distressed more if that’s your favourite look.  It’s so great to be able to print and cut a sheet or two and just have the flowers ready to stick perhaps just one or two as an embellishment on a card as well.)

If you click through on the links in the list above you will get taken to pages that show the design sheets/kits/cutting files used in each case.   If you scroll to the bottom of those pages you will see a larger image of the cards I made with those designs.
