Five Assorted Cards

I know that I write a lot in each blog post – so please don’t think that you have to read every word I’ve written. If you don’t want to know what I used and how I made a card you can just click the thumbnail images to view each card at a larger size, and then click “Back” and scroll down to the next section.

I haven’t done much browsing, crafting or musing since my last blog post, so I’ve not got a huge amount to say or to show you this time, but I do hope you like the five assorted cards I’ve got in this blog post.  I think the owl one would be suitable for a man and the space one for a child, so keeping a variety in my makes.

CARDS:

(Clicking on the text links below each set of images takes you to the pages where you can see some of what I used to make the cards.)

There’s minimal cutting out work involved in most of today’s creation.  The digi on the first card wasn’t intricate to cut out being mostly rounded edges, and cutting round the silhouette on the last card was cutting around the outline with no cutting of landlocked areas.  All the rest was straight edge cutting and a little matting and layering.  So these cards are realy amongst the simplest to make.

  1. Dress Up – Spaceman by Janette Padley and Space Case Mini Theme by Janette Padley (I took several elements from the space kit into one of my graphics packages and resized, moved, etc., until I was happy with my layout for a card front of a little smaller than 8″ square.  I then printed the design out onto glossy Crafty Bob paper.  I printed out digi stamp out onto 300gsm Super Smooth white cardstock and coloured it in using my ProMarkers before cutting it out.  The colours I used were: Cocoa, Satin, Dove Grey, Cool Grey 3, Cinnamon; Metalic Marker: Silver.  After trimming my card front I stuck it directly to the front of a cream 8″ square base card using finger-lift tape, and then used glue gel to attach the digi after I’d shaped it a bit.  I finished off with a peel-off “Penblwydd Hapus” – which is Welsh for “Happy Birthday”.)
  2. Close-up of coloured in digi-stamp.
  3. Crimson Elements by Janette Padley (I took several of the elements from this kit into one of my graphics packages and resized, moved about, etc., until I had a card front layout of fractionally less than A5 in size that I was happy with.  I then printed this out onto Crafty Bob glossy paper.  I took an A4 sheet of dark Adorable Scorable cardstock and scored it in half to make an A5 base card and after trimming my printed out card front I attached this directly to the front of my base card using finger-lift tape.)

  1. This card was in my crafting stash and came pre-embossed with the LOVE letters and patern.  I simply took some “Blush” Metallic Gilding Wax and rubbed it gently over the front of my card before carefully wipeing my hands with a wet wipe to get it off and then buffing the card front using a piece of tissue.  The decoration is simply one flower made using a Martha Stewart flower mould and some white Martha Stewart clay which had also been rubbed with a bit of the guilding wax before attaching with glue gel.
  2. White Owl by Joanna Swinton and snow felled by Sally McIntyre (I took the .png version of the owl image, together with a snow scene into one of my graphics packages, drew in a branch for the owl to sit on and created a card front of a little under A5 in size.  This was then printed out onto Super Smooth white cardstock.  After trimming the image I matted it onto a sheet of silver mirror paper which I trimmed to leave a small border.  This layered image was stuck to the front of an A5 base card made from Adorable Scorable cardstock.  I finished the card off by adding some glitter glue over the branch top and some of the snow in the foreground.  I’ve not added a greeting yet because I think the card can be used as a non-religious Christmas card or a winter birthday.)
  3. YELLOW FRAME WITH BOW AND SILHOUETTE LADY by Nick Bowley (I printed the sheet out onto 300gsm Super Smooth white cardstock and then cut out the pieces.  I coloured the flowers on the top layer of the lady’s bonnet with a yellow ProMarker so that it matched the card.  I matted the framed image firstly on white cardstock and then on a yellow glitter cardstock, trimming each layer to give a small border.  I used finger-lift tape to attach to the white cardstock but used glue gel to attached this to the glitter card for a more secure attachment.  This matted and layered image was then stuck to the front of an A5 white base card using finger-lift tape.  I used 2mm deep, double sided, foam tape to attach the ribbon element to the card front, and glue gell to attach the layers of the lady and the extra flowers.)
  4. An angled close-up of the silhouette lady to show dimension.
