Design Team Cards

Today my blog post is featuring two invitations that have just gone live on The Dragon’s Den blog in my regular, “Pick of the Week” slot. Once again I’m showcasing another great digi-stamp. You can see the post – Here!

The first card is a”sleep-over” invitation and the second is a “messy play day” (bring clothes you don’t mind gets messy) invitation.

Method:

1st Card:

The digi-stamp on this card is partly coloured using ProMarkers and partly paper-pieced.  I printed out the turquoise background and the digi-stamp at the required size onto 300gsm Super Smooth cardstock.  I also printed the digi-stamp out a second time onto one side of the turquoise background.  From this second copy I cut out the clothing area of the digi-stamp.  I also cut a layer to stick as a mat on the A6 card I’d prepared.  By doing it this way I knew I’d get an exact match between dungarees and mat. I also printed the dig-stamp out a third time onto a sheet of brown cardstock.  From this copy of the digi-stamp I just cut out the teddy.  I coloured in the areas of the main digi-stamp that wouldn’t be covered by the paper pieces and then stuck on the pieces.  I then used my ProMarkers again to darken the colour of the boy’s t-shirt and to enhance the teddy.  I trimmed a piece from the pale blue paper from my stash and went round both this and the turquoise layer with a ProMarker.  The layers were stuck in place using finger-lift tape and the digi was attached using glue gel after shaping it a bit.

2nd Card:

I took the splotchy paper sheet and the green background into one of my graphics packages and resized and put them where I wanted so that the card front I created would fit on my chosen base card.  I then printed this, and a copy of the digi-stamp at the required size, onto 300gsm Super Smooth white cardstock.  I cut out the card front and attached it to my chosen base card using finger-lift tape.  I coloured in the digi-stamp, choosing a red and green colour that were close to the colours on the splotchy paper and then choosing other nice bright colours – even poor teddy got a splattering.  After cutting out the digi-stamp I shaped it a bit and then stuck it in place using glue gel.  I finished off the card by adding the peel-off.
