An Update and A Few Cards

The weather is now back to being changeable – in other words more like what we are use to around here, but still with lots of sunshine in amongst the patches of heavy rain.  It does mean that I have to do less watering in the garden of things like the pumpkins and courgettes, although eveything in the greenhouse still needs watering every day, as does things like the potatoes in the potato sacks as not enough rain water gets into the sacks through the thick leaf coverage.  Two of the breeds of potatos are now in flower with me and the earlies should be ready for picking in a week or two.  I’m really tempted to do a bit of a dig around the side to see what I’ve got now, but I think I’ll give them a bit of a chance to grow a bit more before I go look.

It was good that the weather was nice on Sunday afternoon because I went to a Pig Roast, held to celebrate a family friend’s 90th birthday.  I’d made a card for my parents to give him as well as one for me to give.  You can see both in this blog post, as well as one other card I made lately.

  1. Papers from Create & Craft Members’ Free Gift and foiled topper from Hunkydory spring kit. (For this card I used my ScanNCut to cut out the “Penblwydd Hapus” greeting – which is Welsh for “Happy Birthday” – and the number 90 out of gold uncut vinyl peel-off material.  I then took papers and tags and bunting embelishments from the Free Gift pack and went around the edges using a green ProMarker, and I also took a topper from the Hunkydory kit and used fingerlift tape, glue gel, and foam tape to build up the design on an 8″ square card.  I put some bakers twine through the bunting using a large eyed embroydery needle to put the twine through.)
  2. Angled view of card showing the little dimension.
  3. Closeup of bottom tags and penants with age number and greeting.

  1. 601 Shaped Double Easel *SVG* by Rae Carr (I took the cutting file into the online Canvas software, resized and separated out the layers and saved onto my USB stick before putting into the ScanNCut.  I cut out of brown and cream Basal cardstock. I also cut out a greeting and 90 out of the peel-off vinyl at the same time as I cut the greeting for the previous card.  I then built up the card using finger-lift tape, 2mm deep, foam tape and glue gel.  I finished off with leafy branches from my box of bits that I’d cut out on my ScanNCut previously.)
  2. Slightly different angled view of card.
  3. Close-up of stopper.
  4. Side view showing the easel mechanism.

  1. 455 Folded End Card *ScanNCut* by Rae Carr (I took the cutting file into the online Canvas application and grouped it before resizing the whole thing a little.  I then downloaded it to my USB stick and put it into my ScanNCut machine.  I cut the main card out of brown Basal cardstock and the inside panel out of blue.  After folding into shape I then decorated the card with a greeting “Brysiwch Wella” – which is Welsh for “Get Well Soon” – and some flowers and leaves also cut using my ScanNCut. I went all round the outside edges using a gold Wink of Luna brush pen.)
  2. Different angled photo of the card.
