Today we see the start of a new challenge start on the “Dragons Lair Designs Challenge Blog” – and I’m now shareing the inspiration piece I created on this month’s theme.

DLD CB_BadgeDLD DT Badge Sept 2014Each ”Dragons Lair Designs Challenge” goes live the first Friday of the month with a new theme each time. The winner will get picked by “Random” so that it is fair for all levels of crafters. The winner gets a prize, as well as a badge for their blog, and the winning entry will also be highlighted on the challenge blog the following month. Although we’d love to see Dragons Lair Designs items on your creation, you may ENTER the challenge using ANY MATERIAL you wish as long as you clearly follow the set theme. You may enter the challenge with ONE entry per month. So why not consider joining in with us this month – go to the challenge blog and have a look at the rules and the inspiration created by my fellow Design Team members.

For February we have a “bingo” grid for crafters to choose any three items in a straight line to use on their crafted creations.

Here’s the grid –

Please join in and let us see what creation you come up with on the theme.

I decided on the middle row and made my creation using 3 Buttons, a Dragon, and the colour Purple being the main colour.

This is what I produced –

Dragons Lair Designs Item:

  • 1 x pre cut and scored 8″ square card
  • 2 x 250gsm Super Smooth white cardstock
  • Nuvo pens in colours – 437, 439, 441, 457, 453, and 506
  • ProMarkers in colours – Saddle Brown and Chestnut
  • Assorted Spectrum Sparkle pens
  • 1mm deep, double sided foam tape
  • Fingerlift double sided tape
  • Pinflair Glue Gel
  • Purple buttons
  • 2 different shades from purple Adorable Scorable selection

  • My Craft Studio
  • Corner Punch
  • Paper Trimmer
  • Branch Tattered Lace Die
  • Baby Blue Die Cutting Machine

I took the chosen background and the flower into My Craft Studio and resized and did multiple copies as required.  This was then printed onto one sheet of white cardstock.  Onto the other I printed the digi-stamp at the required size. After colouring in the digi-stamp I cut it out and also cut a mat out of the rest of the sheet.  The flowers and background were also cut out.

More mats were cut out of the background and other chosen cardstock.  I used a corner punch to round the corners of most of the layers.  I then use fingerlift tape to attach most of the layers in order, with 1mm deep tape between the two layers of Adorable Scorable.  I shaped the digi-stamp and the flowers before they were glued on.  I had the leafy branches cut from the waste white cardstock and these were stuck to the top right corner of the card before the flowers were added.  I finished off by glueing on the 3 buttons.

Here are two more photos of the card at different angles –

The dragon’s wings as well as the pots and items on the shelves are coloured with the Spectrum Sparkle pens but unfortunately it doesn’t show clearly in the photos.

I hope you like my quick make and that you will join us in the Dragons Lair Designs Challenge Blog this month.
