An Update And A Card

-oOo-

I decided to have a break from sorting out the photos I’d taken of my makes over the last year, and actually make something new.  Just a simple twisted easel card, but I hope you like it.

.

CARD:

We have a colouring challenge every month in the Dragons Lair Designs Fan Group where any group member who wants to take part can request the free digi-stamp of the month.  Then all anybody who requests the image has to do is print it, colour it and craft with it, and then upload a photo of their creation before the end of the month. (Failure to upload a photo of something made with the free item means that the group member can not take part in the following month’s challenge until something is uploaded.)  And everybody who takes part gets a loyalty point which, when you get enough points, gives you a free voucher to spend in the Dragons Lair Designs Store.

This month the digi we were given to work with was a lovely little elephant.

I decided to make a simple, 7″ square, twisted easel card.  I used background papers printed from the Heavenly collection – which is this month’s free mini collection with the Dragons Lair Designs Newsletter (you can sign up for it – here! – to get your freebie)

This is what the card looks like unopened –

Elie 04I coloured the elephant with Tonic Nuvo pens 485, 487, 489, and 449.

It doesn’t close really flat because of the dimensional stopper that’s inside, which is simply a 1″ square of one of the backgrounds which I rounded the corners with a punch and stuck on using glue gel.  I then put some paper flowers made from torn pieces of the backgrounds to place in front of the square and added Tonic pearl drops.

These are the similar flowers I stuck on the front of the card – as you can see, hopefully, they are made from the same printed cardstock as the background.  You can see how I made them in my tutorial on makeing paper flowers – number 4 Here!  You can also see the white, faux stitchen I put around each panel.  It’s subtle, but I wanted to stick with white in keeping with the colour of the card.

This is what the card looks like when it’s standing up.

And this is a closer look at the front panel from an angle.

I’ve not put a greeting on yet as I’m not sure what occasion it will be used for.

Genuine comments will go live when I’ve checked through the list – usually a couple of times a day.) (Thank you to every body who’s left comments on my previous blog posts.
