A Second Plaque

-oOo-

When my mother saw the plaque I made for myself (you can see it – here – if you haven’t seen it before) she liked it so much I decided to make her one.

The place I’d got the letter and plaque for my original creation didn’t have any letter H left so I went looking on eBay for a suitable item.

Her favourite colour is blue so I got a letter H already painted this time, rather than covering the letter myself.

I also ordered some wooden plaques with ready drilled holes.

I’d still got a lot of flowers left from making my previous letter plaque so I had less to do from scratch for this make.

Like the previous plaque I started by roughly painting the plaque with white gesso.

I then collected together all the items I wanted to use – plaque, letter, glue, paint, brushes, Tonic Nuvo mousse and drops, bag of flowers I’d maďe previously from prrinted out Essential Plains digital downloads from the Dragons Lair Designs Etsy shop.

This time I decided to do some fine splatering of paint onto the background before I did anything else, blue near the top and green near the bottom.

As Mam and I decided near the end of making my plaque that something around the edge as a finishing touch was needed, this time I decided to put the dots around the edge before doing anything else – it was difficult using a ruler to get dots evenly spaced in a straght line after adding flowers on my plaque.

I used my finger to rub some mousse around some edges of the letter.  It’s odd how bothe the paint splatter and rubbed areas on the letter take on a different look depending on the lighting. I then glued on the letter with glue gel.

Next it was simply a case of tipping out my paper flowers and leaves and laying them out in various positions until I was happy with them.  I used glue gel to attach these as well.

I used wire from my jewellery making stash to hang the plaque, again using beads as stoppers on the back to stop wire moving or coming out of the holes.

And this is what it looks like in the end.

.

Now I need to sort out some more catchup posts to publish, and also decide whether I’m next going to work on some of my PHD, or start one of the projects I’ve got planned in my head and already bought the items needed.
