Welsh Cards

-oOo-

Good morning everybody!

There was a birthday of a family member at the start of the month so I needed to make a card each for my mother and I to send and thought that while I was at it I’d have a bit of a play and make some more than I needed.  I showed you the sympathy cards I made in an earlier post – here.

So now it’s time to show you my other creations from that cardmaking session.

.

Firstly – out came an asortment of card making items. These included prints I’d done in a previous screen printing session that hadn’t turned out so good, some Hunkydory filigree frames kit items, and an assortment of Pollyanna Pickering die cut toppers and inserts, as well as several sheets of cardstock I’d printed out previously from the Dragons Lair Designs Essential Plains digital downloads.

So, lets go through them one by one.

Starting with the two cards made using the badly printed screen prints I showed you previously to make birthday cards.

I coloured this one using some Spectrum Noir sparkle pens and a green promarker. I used Duo circle dies to cut out the image and a mat from a sheet printed with a pink coloured background from the DLD Essentials downloads.  I also cut out the butterflies from the same cardstock using part of a die that came free on a Tattered Lade magazine. The main green mat and the strip over the white ribon (that came wraped around a pillowcase I bought) were from another sheet from the DLD Essentials downloads. Butterfly bodies were simply coloured in black using a fineliner pen, and then everything was glued together. I cut off the sploged part of the screen print once I’d matted it on the pink and placed it at the side of the card to disguise the fact that it didn’t print correctly.

Next came a card where the screen print was just over the edge.

I again used my circle Duo dies to not only cut out the screen printed image after colouring it as previously, but I also used different sized dies from the same set to cut out a variety of sixed circles from different colours from the DLD Essentials. I cut a slice off the edge of several of these before starting to glue the circles in place, hopefully disguising the fact that the main topper image had a bit printed over the edge. The blue background paper also came from the Essentials collection.

Next came a card from the Hunkydory filigree collection, on which I’ve simply put Llongyfarchiadau, which is Welsh fot Congratulations.  I think this one is right for a wedding.  I only used the topper and filligree frame from the kit and used cardstock and peeloffs from my kit, which means I have more to play with again.

Looks like I didn’t photograph the matching insert to this one.

Next cones a few cards made using Pollyanna Pickering artwork.

A5 base card from my stash and red background from a Hunkydory pad of various shades of red papers.

And the insert for it where I’d used a piece of the paper I’d used for matting over the pre-printed greeting so that I could put a Welsh greeting in instead – this time a Happy Birthday card.

A simple green mat behind the topper, again it came from a Hunkydory pad of papers, this time of green shades.

And the insert that I put inside. Again, I added a panel to change it to a Welsh birthday card.

For this card I just framed the topper with a narrow margine of a black cardstock showing and left the card front mostly white. I went round the black frame and the outside of the base card with gold peeloffs.

And the insert for it, once again changed to a Welsh birthday greeting.

.

I’ve got a few images that I’d pulled out still waiting to be crafted with, but it probably won’t be for a while as the person I’ve got in mind to receive one of the toppers on a card doesn’t have his birthday until the end of June and I’m spending more time out in the garden these days and less inside crafting. Long may this nice weather remain – provided it doesn’t get too hot!
