65th Wedding Anniversary Card

Hi and welcome to my blog (or welcome back if you’ve visited before).

While I have made a 60th Wedding Anniversary card in the past, I had never been asked for a 65th one before, and neither myself or the person who ordered it knew what the theme for a 65th Wedding Anniversary was.  So out came my tablet, and a quick search brought up the answer – Blue Sapphire.

Trying to get everything I wanted to use on the card as one shade of blue wasn’t going to happen, so I decided to make the card using several shades of blue, throwing in some blue sticky back gems to finish it off.

What I Used

(Some of the items I’ve used I can no longer find for sale either where I got them originally or in other online stores I use.)

What I Did

I coloured the flower at the centre of the Kanban sheet in shades of blue using Chameleon Pens.  I then used my die cutting machine to cut out the various elements and frames from the sheet as well as using the dies to cut mats in various shades of blue to go behind the lacey framing layers.

I scored the A3 sheet of cardstock at 8″, folded it over, and scored again at 8″ from the fold.

I cut the sheet at the second score line and also squared off the card at 8″.

I used MS Publisher to position the required wording for the front in my chosen position for the card front centre and also the wording for the insert.  These were printed off on the relevant sheet, again in a blue tone of lettering.  I used the Cutterpiller to trim the insert to the required size and one of the Kanban dies to cut the card front square.

I then used clear foam tape and squares, as well as finger-lift tape, to build up the matting and layerin for the front of the card, making some layers flush and some layers raised.

The insert has a half inch folded over edge that is stuck down inside the back of the card so the insert itself can have an extra message written on the back of it as well if the person who ordered it wants.

Finished Card And Insert

This is the insert – The Welsh greeting translates as “65 Years Of Married Live – Happy Wedding Anniversary Cellabration”.

This is the front of the card from more or less above – had to take the photo from slightly off straight because of the flare from the coloured flowers and the foil.  Very difficult to get photos of something with holographic foiling all over without just getting streakes of white-out areas.
The card just twinkles from the foiling and sticky back gems when moved in the light.

Penblwydd Priodas Hapus simply means Happy Wedding Anniversary.

A different angled look at the card.

Another couple of different angled looks at the card, trying to show that the layers are raised so the card has some dimension.

.

I’m still working on several projects, including an order for some of the air dry clay flowers like I’ve shown previously.  I may introduce some colour to some, instead of just white flowers as well.
