A Simple Birthday Card.

Hi and welcome to my blog (or welcome back if you’ve visited before).  Hope you are well, enjoying nice weather, and having time for crafting and other “me time” as well.

Today I have a simple card I made for my brother-in-law for his birthday.  I guess you could call it “mixed media” as I’ve used material as well as cardstock and glitter glue this time.

What I Did

I started by choosing one of the images from the piece of material and cut it out so that there was a bit of a margin for turning over.  I then covered the front of the backing heavyweight cardstock with Bookbinding glue – couldn’t find my spreader so used a piece of cardstock to spread it very thinly.  I then put the material square over this and smoothed it out before burning it over, cutting off the corners to nearly the edge of the backing card, adding a bit of bookbinding blue to each turnover edge and sticking the material down.

I then went around the edge of the panel with the tube of glitter glue – not my best effort as it is a bit wobbly, but I was doing it in the week following my cateract operation when one eye had corneal odoema and I couldn’t see through it.

I then stuck the panel to the front of a base card and added a “Penblwydd Hapus” peeloff – which is Welsh for “Happy Birthday”.

What I Used
The Finished Card

Just a few different photos of the same card in different positions.

.

I still have a small number of crafted items to upload to a post on this blog, plus – it’s time to start Christmas Cards!  Yes, it really is!  So you can expect to see batches of those appearing on my blog in a couple of weeks time.
