Welsh Birthday Card

Carden Penblwydd Hapus
A Welsh Birthday Card

Hi and welcome to my blog (or welcome back if you’ve visited before).

In my last blog post – here – I told you that I’d stamped out a lot of Artisan Design floral stamps, but only ended up using one flower and one leaf on my simple sympathy card.

For the project I’ve got to show you today I’ve coloured up another of the stamped images and made a card with it.

What I Did

I picked an image that had been stamped in green ink and coloured it in using alcohol markers. I then cut this out and shaped it a bit so the leaves on either side were no longer flat.

I took a sheet of cream hammered cardstock, scored, folded it in half, and used a punch to round the corners.

I took a sheet of gold glitter card and a sheet of red perleasent cardstock, cut them to size I required and also rounded the corners.

I attached the glitter card to the base card using fingerlift tape.

I took a topper from a kit I had bought and used foam tape to attach this to the pearlescent cardstock before using glue gel to attach the coloured flower to the front.

I then used glue gel to attach the matted image to the glitter card layer.

I finished off with a Penblwydd Hapus (Welsh for Happy Birthday) greeting.

I printed off the same greeting onto white paper, trimmed, scored and folded, and attached inside as an insert using fingerlift tape.

What I Used
The Finished Card

The front view of the card – with pearlescent cardstock, glitter cardstock and a topper with a sheen, the colours are not completely true in these photographs, especially this front view one.

I do think you can get a better idea of the colours from the various angles I’ve taken the photographs of the card from, though none look exactly the same colours as the card throughout.

I have started on my Christmas Cards, as well as cards for an order I’ve had, so expect a few more posts over the next couple of weeks.
