Butterfly Card

Butterfly Birthday Card

Hi and welcome to my blog (or welcome back if you’ve visited before).

For the card I have got to show you today I used two things I haven’t used before.  A new butterfly stamp from Artisan Designs UK that I just got, and some explosion powders from Pretty Gets Gritty that I’ve had for a few weeks but hadn’t used previously.

What I Did

I wet a sheet of 300gsm white cardstock and sprinked a bit from four or five different pots of explosion powsers on it and watched as they moved in the water to create an interesting background.  I then left this to dry naturally overnight.

I stamped out the butterfly stamp and used the explosion powders with a water brush to colour it in.  It was then cut out and left to dry.

I took a sheet of hammered cardstock, scored it, folded it, and used a punch to round the corners.

I took the background I’d created and cut out a piece of a suitable size for my card.  I also cut out a bit of glitter card a little bigger.  Both these layers had their corners rounded.

Fingerlift tape was used to attach the glitter card to the base card.  Glue gel was used to attach the background panel to the glitter card.  I then shaped the butterfly and again used glue gel to attach this.  I finished off with a “Penblwydd Hapus” peeloff (Welsh for Happy Birthday).

Inside is an insert with the same greeting printed on it before attaching with fingerlift tape.
