September Calendar Page

Thank you for coming over to have a look at my blog
September Calendar Page

Time for my regular, monthly, post about what I’ve put on this month’s page on my mother’s calendar.

If you haven’t seen my previous calendar posts then you can find this year’s pages by following these links : the January page – here! February page – here! March page – here! April page – here! May page – here! June page – here! July page – here! and August page – here!

I’ve gone back to using pre-printed, die-cut, toppers for this month’s page – but I made the background myself this time.

What I Did

To start this project – a few weeks ago I took a foil roasting tray that was just about big enough to put an A4 sheet of paper in and filled it with shaving foam.  I then dropped and sprayed on an assortment of ink colours, moved these about with a fork, and placed a sheet of cardstock on top.  After smoothing this down onto the coloured shaving foam I lifted it up and dabbed it with some kitchen paper to remove any foam that came up with it.  This was left to dry while more sheets of cardstock were “marble printed” using the shaving foam – adding more colour and swirling and flattening as needed.

When I was ready to do this month’s callendar page I chose one of the “marbled” sheets and trimmed off around 1cm from the width and height.  This was then attached with fingerlift tape to a sheet of black cardstock giving a border of around half a cm.

I chose 3 British wildlife toppers from a Pollyanna Pickering collection.  These were stuck to the front of the marbled layer using foam tape to give them a bit of a lift.

I then set about makeing up some flowers, choosing red and yellow stamens to pick up the flower colours in two of the toppers, and just using one fabric layer for each flower.  These embelishments were added to the panel with glue gel before attaching it to the September page of my mother’s calendar using fingerlift tape.  I also added the month title in Welsh – Mis Medi.

What I Used
Photos Of The September Calendar Page

This is the whole calendar page as it looks hanging on the wall in Mam’s room.

Getting in closer and closer.

And finally a really close look at the floral embelishments and the marbled background.

So now I’m going to go back to making cards for my order and batch making Christmas cards, though I’m not feeling too good at the moment and have lost my voice, so I’m on an even more of a “go slow” than usual.  But I have managed to make a few things and photograph them, just need to crop the photos and write up a blog post for them next.
