Giveaway Winning And Some Crafting

Thank you for coming over to have a look at my blog

Giveaway Winning and Crafting

Hi and welcome to my blog (or welcome back if you’ve visited before).

Pete Simpson of Artisan Design UK has been doing daily Giveaways on his page, as well as Facebook Live demonstrations, more or less continuously since the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic started.  He has only had a very few days off in all these weeks.

While he has been giving away some Artisan Design items, and doing a clearout of some of his own unused stash, many others have generously donated to his giveaways.  All very generous people who have done a little bit to give to the crafting community.

One week I won the Saturday Weekend Wow! giveaway.  These giveaways have been a little larger than the giveaways of other days.

This is what I got.

Opened box.

Spread out a little bit.

Thank you very much Pete for running the giveaways, and a thank you to all the others who have donated items to be included in the giveaways.

Having won so many varied items in Pete‘s Weekend Wow Giveaway I just had to have a play and see what I could come up with.  So many ideas, but I had to choose what to start off with.

What I Did

For my first make I used 2 spray inks, two glitter frames, and two stamps from the giveaway.  Having scored and folded in half one A4 sheet of cardstock I used a makeup brush to apply purple ink to one of the stamps, putting it onto a stamping platform and stamping around the outside of the card I’d made, moving the stamp or the card before each stamp to give a pattern around.  I then used another makeup brush to add some yellow around the outside edge of the card.

Makeup brushes were again used to apply yellow to a sheet of cardstock, in various depths of colour, spraying a few splats on for texture after finishing.  Another piece of cardstock had purple ink added with a makeup brush to give a very deep colour.

A panel was cut from the yellow cardstock darkest area, and a slightly larger mat to go behind it was cut from the purple.  I then stuck the two gliter frames onto lighter areas of the cardstock coloured in yellow, as well as stamping a butterfly onto a darker area using the purple ink, again using a makeup brush to apply.  The circular framed panels and the butterfly were then cut out to the edge with scissors.

The butterfly was shaped and glue attached only to the body to stick it to the largest circle.

I then used a die cutting machine to cut flowers and foliage from the same cardstock I’d used for everything else on this card, shaping with my fingers and shading centres and pettal edges with the same two colours of ink.

Fingerlift tape, foam tape, and bookbinding glue were used to attach everything together.

I finished off by adding a “Penblwydd Hapus” peeloff greeting and using a fineliner pen to add a bit of a shaddow around lower right side of lettering.

I’ll be back with another card I made the same time as this in a future blog post before long.
