90th Birthday Card

Thank you for coming over to have a look at my blog

Welsh 90th Birthday Card

Hi and welcome to my blog (or welcome back if you’ve visited before).

As I said in my last post – one of the deacons in our chapel had phoned me to let me know that one of our chapel members, who taught the Sunday School before me, was having her birthday last week.  I only had a couple of days notice, so not a lot of time to think about what to do.

As luck would have it, a person who use to live opposite us had phoned the same afternoon and said that she had a box of old cards for me to recycle if I wanted them.  Of course I wanted them.  I love seeing how I can give a second life to cards.  She dropped the box off in our side passage before the end of the day.  I started flicking through them for a look and the minute I saw one card it just jumped out at me and I knew it would make a great 90th birthday cellabration card.

So out with my trimmer, etc., and off I went …

What I Did

I started by scoreing and trimming the large sheet of textured cardstock to create an 8″ square card.

I then trimmed the card front from the old card I was recycling.  This was attached to a sheet of dark red cardstock using fingerlift tape and trimmed to leave a narrow border.

I then trimmed a 7″ square from a lighter red, glitter, cardstock from the same pack.  I used foam tape to attach the glitter mat to the card front and then to attach the matted topper on top of that.

I used foam tape again to attach the greeting banner over where the greeting was on the recycled topper.

I then added a 90 peeloff.

I finished by printing a greeting on a sheet of paper, trimming it, and attaching it inside the card.

Different angled looks at the same card. Hope you can see the dimension created by using 3mm deep foam tape between some of the matting and layering.

.

I think it will be back to showing you Christmas cards for my next blog post, so keep an eye out for that as I have several more ready to show you and lots more to complete and photograph.
