Shaun The Sheep Crochet
Hi and welcome to my blog (or welcome back if you’ve visited before).
One of the gifts I crafted for Christmas was a Shaun The Sheep stuffed toy for my young great nephew.
Having been born last year, after the start of the pandemic, I’ve yet to hold the little one, or even be in the same room as him. His mother is a great photographer so Mam and I regularly see photos and little film clips of him. The only time I’ve seen him “in the flesh” was through Mam’s bedroom window when they called round just before Christmas, and he was sleeping soundly in his car seat that time. I do hope they get the pandemic under control soon, and that we have the vaccine (and that it works). As my nephew has kept sheep for years I thought it fitting that his son had his very own sheep – and even if he had several, a child can not have too many sheep.
What I Did
I followed the pattern provided in the kit. Although I’ve done a lot of crochet, it has been mostly lots of different types of blankets but I’d never followed a pattern to make a crochet toy item before.
With my conditions I do find it difficult to keep an even tension or even to crochet a lot in one session. So I took over a week to make this and I did have to crochet a fifth leg as one of them was very obviously a different tension and size to the other three. It didn’t look too bad when I finished.
What I Used
Shaun The Sheep – crochet kit that included hook, yarn, stuffing and pattern.
My great nephew’s mother was kind enough to send me a photo of the little one inspecting his gift after it was opened. He seemed quite intrigued.
I have a few more items made before Christmas that I can show you now, so hopefully they will make their way online for you to see in the near future.
