More Crystal Art – Butterflies

Hi and welcome to my blog (or welcome back if you’ve visited before).

I showed you three crystal art butterflies, that I’d made for my mother as part of her Mothers Day gift, in a previous post.  When I finished my Elephant Crystal Art Project I thought I’d dip back into my stash of butterflies and pick a few more to decorat with the crystals.

I haven’t decided where these are going yet.

CRAFTING
What I Did

I cut my selected butterflies out of the A4 sheets they came in to start off.

Then I carefully placed all the crystals in place following the guide letters. Once complete I used a paintbrush to cover the whole surface with a sealer.

They don’t take a lot of time to dry, but I like to leave them overnight before moving or touching them.

One of my aunts has asked me to make a batch of a dozen Welsh birthday cards for her, so keep an eye out for a post showing them in the next few weeks, as well as some other crafting I’ve got on the go.

Crystal Art Elephants

Hi and welcome to my blog (or welcome back if you’ve visited before).

The craftwork I’ve got to show you today is a project I started quite a while ago – as in a couple of years ago I think!  It is a crystal art picture of a scene of the savannah. I’d only done around 2″ square of the top left corner when I had to put it away to do something else, and it didn’t get taken out again to work on until earlier this year.

Of course I’ve had other projects on the go at the same time, such as birthday cards for family members, etc., but I have been slowly working on the picture for the last few weeks.  I set myself a challenge to finish it befors Easter, and as you can see – I got it done with time to spare!

CRAFTING
What I Did

I’ve seen a lot of crystal art kits that I like tye look of on sale the last few years. Some which need to be fully covered in crystals, while some only have the focal point covered in crystals. Some which are ready mounted on a wooden frame, while some are only printed on canvas. Some huge, while some are just little trinkets. And with a wide difference in prices and quality.

I decided to get a ready framed one as it wouldn’t require further frameing work at the end, and also be a firm surface to work on. For size I went for a 30cm square one.

I carefully placed all the crystals in place following the gude letters. Once complete I used a paintbrush to cover the whole surface with a sealer.

Mothers Day – Gift and Card

Hi and welcome to my blog (or welcome back if you’ve visited before).

For Mothers Day this year, in addition to the usual shower gel, I decided to give my mother some Crystal Art wall decal butterflies as well as some other butterflies, and decided to keep the theme by using butterflies for her card as well.

CRAFTING
What I Did

I have a box with several crystal art butterflies ready to attach the crystals.  I made up 3 and sealed them before giving them to Mam.  They now decorate the wall opposite Mam’s bed, with one on her window, for her to have something cheerfull to look at. I also put up some other types of butterflies for her.

For her card I used an 8″ square card base, attached a piece of cardstock as a background and used some sticky back lace to create a sort of frame.  I used some Forever flowerz layers thatI had left from my big Flower makeing marathon before Christmas that I stuck to the card. I then added sticky back gems to the middle of the flowers.  I added a peel-off greeting “Sul Y Mamau Hapus” – Welsh for Happy Mother’s Sunday – and then added small butterflies from my crafting sash.

It was 3 larger versions of the same type of butterflies I put on Mam’s wall with the crystalart ones

I’ve still got excess crafting equipment and consumables that I’m selling. (I know that some of my doublers arrived here because I bought an item, and then bought a batch of stuff that also included something I’d already bought.) You can see my listings on eBay – Here!
