Floral Wreaths

Floral Wreaths

Hi and welcome to my blog (or welcome back if you’ve visited before). Thank you for coming for a look.

I don’t put up all our Christmas decorations until much closer to Christmas, but this year I have made and put up a wreath on our front door early, as well as makeing and putting up a wreath on my late father’s grave.

What I Did

For today’s projects I made up the flowers from a kit of fabric flower layers, used a plastic wreath base, plastic faux foliage and some faux berries.  I also had a string of battery opperated lights which had cristal drops coming off it – but only on the wreath for the door, I thought that having a light up wreath on the grave would be a bit over the top.

What I Used

As far as I can find, most of the things I used were only available for a short time as they are seasonal items, so no links available for all of them.

  • Hessian Ribbon
  • Plastic Wreath Bases With Some Greenery from Forever Flowers From Craft Buddy
  • Red and White Carnation Flower Makeing Kit from Forever Flowers From Craft Buddy
  • Faux Berries
  • Faux Asparagus Fern Leaves
  • String Of Battery Opperated Lights With Black and Clear Crystal Drops – Craft Buddy Wired Acrylic Crystal Garland
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Hot Glue Sticks

Wreath for grave

Placed on the grave next to some flowers my sister took up.

On the door.  Got to get the cleaner to give the door and step a wash down next time she is here as the wind and rain have dirtied them up.

Closer look on door. Probably should have turned the inside light off before takeing the photo for a better shot.

.

I’m coming to a time where I will have to say “enough” for Christmas crafting now, though I do have a small number of things to complete, so keep an eye out for them over the next few weeks.

Floral Wreath

Thank you for coming over to have a look at my blog

Floral Wreath

Having been in a lot of pain for a few weeks, because of an infection in my tooth/jaw, and being on antibiotics for a fortnight to try and clear it – which in itself is very draining – I am all behind with my gardening, and all behind with my crafting.

Now been back to the dentist again and she’s extracted the problem tooth, so only hope that the infection really is all gone from the jaw and it will be just a case of healing now.  Which all means that I haven’t had a lot to post on my blog, and haven’t finished the YouTube videos I’m working on either.  Hopefully I’ll be back on form within a couple of weeks.

But in the meantime I’ve been slowly makeing more roses from air drying paper clay.  And by slow I mean I’ve made 11 in the last couple of weeks, whereas I can usually make more in a couple of days.

I’ve used some of the roses I’ve made in the project I’ve got to show you today.  As I realy wasn’t feeling up to too much of fiddly work, this time I decided to use bought in artificial flowers and leaves as fill in items.

What I Did

I started off by makeing white roses from air dry paper clay as previously (I showed you the bouquet of flowers that I made, including the roses, in a previous post – here).  As they were being incorporated into a wreath I didn’t put calixes or leaves on this time, nor bound the wire stem with florist tape.

I wanted a rustic look, so chose a rattan wreath as a base, and decided that I wouldn’t stuff it with flowers and foliage so that the base itself can be seen in some places.  After trying different spacing of roses I decided on five for this project.  I then cut up the sprays of filler flowers and leaves and started putting them around the wreath base to see how much I wanted.

I then used the wires on the roses, as well as other green wire to hold the items in place.

Finished Floral Wreath

This is what my finished floral wreath looks like.

After showing it to my mother we’ve decided to place it up on my father’s grave.

Same wreath, different angle.

Here’s a closer look at one of the roses with the filler flowers and leaves around it.

Hopefully you will see me back with another blog post before too long.
