Mother’s Day Card

Hi and welcome to my blog (or welcome back if you’ve visited before).

Thank you for coming over to have a look at my blog

A Mother’s Day Card

I was asked to make a mother’s day card at short notice for the boss of our carers.  Not large and blingy this time, just nice.  This is what I came up with.

What I Did

I started by using Canvas to lay out a suitable greeting and chose a rose image that is supplied with the software as well.

I set these to foil on my Scan’n’Cut while I set out an insert in Publisher and printed it.

I then coloured in the rose with alcohol markers before cutting it out.  I used a trimmer to cut out the greeting before rounding the corners with a punch and then matting it directly onto a maroon cardstock. This was cut to leave a border of around 1cm and again the corners were rounded.

I scored and folded in half a sheet of red cardstock before I attached the matted topper using foam tape.

I then placed several corner foiled stickers (may be old Glitter Girls ones, I’m not sure as I’ve had the pack for years) in the card corners and top and bottom of the matted greeting.

I stuck on the rose to go over the edge of the matted greeting and onto the base card using glue.

What I Used
  • A4 Adorable Scoreable Cardstock – Red and Maroon
  • Scoreboard
  • Corner Punch
  • Paper Trimmer
  • Scan’n’Cut
  • Brother Canvas
  • We’R’Memory Keepers Foiling Quill

  • A4 sheet of White Paper
  • MS Publisher
  • Scissors
  • Fingerlift Tape
  • Foam Tape
  • Corner Foiled Peeloffs

Mother’s Day Card

A Mother’s Day Card

Hi and welcome to my blog (or welcome back if you’ve visited before).

It’s Mother’s Day, or Mothering Sunday as it is also called, so time to show you the card I made for my mother as she will have been given it by now.

Of course, I made a Welsh card, “Sul Y Mamau”, for my mother, and with no need to worry about postage I could make it dimensional.  It simply says MAM on the outside, and after taking the pictures I added a peel-off greeting inside.

What I Used
The Card

This is a head on view of the card.

This is a closer look at the punched out word MAM.

I used an insert from the pack inside.  It has a faint version of the flowers in the umbarella topper towards the bottom left.  I put a piece of the plain, white, card that had been cut from the back behind the recess to cover the X cut.

.

I should be back with another post before long as I have some more projects on the go.  Please pop back to have a look.

Cardiau Sul Y Mamau – Mothers’ Day Cards

An Update and Some Colouring In

-oOo-

Not a big post from me today.  Just a couple of mother’s day cards.  One I made to give myself to my mother, and the other I made for my niece to give to her mother but she went home without it, so my other sister who came to stay over the weekend appropriated it to also give to Mam.

.

Cards:

This was the card I gave Mam myself.  The image is one out of a little book from Hot Off The Press called “Floral Garden For Colourists”.  And the company do give permission for images you colour in to be used on cards “for personal use or to sell for pin money”, which is good to know because some colouring book companies don’t – so always check the terms of the company who owns the copyright.

I actually coloured the whole image panel in using Spectrum Sparkle pens from the Spring/Summer pack.  The dimensional butterfly is also from the Floral Garden colouring book, as was a tag I used on the inside.  I also brushed the clear Spectrum Sparkle pen over the floral embelishments.  Unfortunately non of it has been captured in the photos, because the whole thing is very sparkly when moved in the light.

The card is simply a 7″ square ready prepared white base card.  The flowers and the background paper s used in the central strip were printed out from a My Craft Studio/Tattered Lace CD-ROM and cut out with different, co-ordinating, Tattered Lace “Floral Layers” dies.

I used the Tonic funky glue pen to glue everything in place.

The second card was very plain, and not fussy, at the request of my niece, because my sister doesn’t like dimensional and glittery things.  Nither does my other sister who appropriated the card.  It’s simply an image from one of the Hunkydory Little Books – think it was the 2nd flowers one – stuck onto one of the Hunkydory mirror layers and mounted on a plain white A5 card.

Only one photo of this –
